5 Career-Killing Attitudes We’ve All Had – and How to Stop Them

Have you ever had thoughts like, “I’ll never get promoted,” or “My boss really hates me,” or “It’s all her fault I didn’t get a good rating!”

Psychologist Aaron Beck first identified and gave name to this bad habit of thinking that’s known as Cognitive Distortion. You take one data point or event, and then spin it out so it becomes much more of an irrational belief.

.

Once he recognized these patterns, Becky’s therapy practice started including processes for clients to identify, call out, and change these thought processes. Good thing since they often brought on stress, despondency and low self-esteem.

“Clients,” he said, “Have access to the primary vehicle for change…their own thoughts.”

How true that is!
